Frequently Asked Questions
You’ve come to the right place! Red Brass LA’s goal is to make firearms more approachable for those who are curious, help marginalized people feel safe handling and purchasing firearms.
We have classes for everybody who is willing to maintain a respectful and safe environment.
Red Brass LA is run by a collective of people who are passionate about making firearms more accessible for the working class.
We hold our 101a class in Downtown Los Angeles; location will be sent to registered attendees a few days before the class. We host our range days at a variety of ranges, and the location will be indicated on each class. Range location is dependent on weather, availability and interest.
Yes, we’d love to! If you’re interested in organizing a group training, please reach out to us at contact@redbrassla.com.
Unfortunately, no. To ensure that our students are aware of our safety standards and able to uphold those at the range, we require all participants in Red Brass events to attend our 101a: Intro to Firearms training.
Our focus with these classes is specifically for marginalized folks. We use the funds to subsidize people with lesser means as well as cover the overhead costs for the organization and the range costs. From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.
To the class: comfortable clothes, the class is indoors. Firearms are slightly oily and often dirty, wear appropriate clothing. If you have a favorite mask, wear it, or we will provide them.
To the range: Closed toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing (is it indoor or outdoor), no scoop neck shirts/blouses, sun protection if outdoors, ear and eye protection if you have (we will provide if you do not), and your Photo ID.
We have classes for everybody who is willing to maintain a respectful and safe environment. We are also working to build a community of queer/trans/BIPOC shooters. If that is of interest to you, you can fill out our intake form to hear about additional upcoming classes/events.
We need everyone attending our class to have an individual ticket. We encourage people inviting friends to have some confidence that the friends will be comfortable and considerate with our deference to marginalized folks framework. Please email us at contact@redbrassla.com if you’d like to bring a minor child.
